What is Painted Furniture?
“Vintage painted furniture” refers to furniture items from a previous era that have been adorned with paint in a way that reflects the style and aesthetics of that particular time.
This type of furniture often carries a sense of history and character, with the paint adding a layer of uniqueness and charm. Whether it’s distressed finishes, hand-painted motifs, or specific colour palettes reminiscent of bygone eras, or adored with gold leaf, vintage painted furniture is sought after for its nostalgic appeal and the ability to add a touch of retro or classic design to contemporary spaces.

Louise’s vintage antiquities and home furnishings are showcased in her unique portfolio, using her specialist products to create her finished pieces, which are also available to purchase from her Etsy store.
Louise depicts her expertise by using her specialist Sweet Pickins range of products to create each piece.
This allows advocates of her work to acquire and incorporate her unique and expertly crafted furnishings into their own living spaces to eluate their own imagination.
Louise has featured on the BBC 2 Great Interior Design Challenge with a vintage styled bedroom, has a BA(hons) Education and Professional Studies, a Degree in Interior Design, and a PGCE in Literature Romanticism and the English Lake District, which is where she takes her inspiration from.

What is
milk paint?
Louise has a passion for ecologically source, vintage and Nordic style décor, which she uses to create her own unique style using ‘The Sweet Pickins range of products. Old Fashioned Milk Paint ‘Sweet Pickins is the faithful recreation of an ancient homemade paint formula, containing just milk protein (casein), lime and natural earth or mineral pigments, making it eco-friendly, non-toxic, VOC-free, food-safe & biodegradable.
The paint arrives in powder form to be mixed with water, so great as a colourwash or for stencilling.
Great paint to achieve a naturally distressed or “chippy” look that Louise loves.
